This is my idea of what the new Honda quad should be and I know it won't be produced. So, I am thinking about building my own (since I got 6 grand out of my Tecate-4 which was hard to part with but there are not any parts for the quad). Anyway i want to do a 250R from scrath with the engine using the 400 Pilot cylinder conversion I have saw. My question is does anyone have any comments on that conversion or should I use a CR500 motor. I have rode a couple 310R's and they still didn't have what it takes to take a moded Banshee at the dunes and I don't want another shee because thats all you see there. My theory is a custom built 250R with a 400 cylinder, Leager or Roll chassis and 400EX plastic (yellow). Any comments are appreciated and does any one know how well 400EX plastic fits on na 250R based frame. My goal is a somwhat reliable dune rocket that can smoke most modded Banshee's.

the 400 plastic is possible to put on a R. And I just so happen to have a complete MINT 98 cr 500 for sale $3000 with many mods including a new .20 over top end...

go with the pilot cylinder...CR500's have no counterbalancer and it would shake the quad to death

Have you looked at PSI's new Genesis Engine. It is available as a 425cc powervalved monster with 75HP. I would not swap engines because it is alot of $$$, way more than any aftermarket big bore kit for the 250R bottom end.

I talked to a guy at the dunes last week that is running a cr500 in his 250r chassis. He says its not that bad vibration wise, and that puppy was smoking most of the banshees, mine included.
