Drowned Rincon

I believe when you get it back from the dealer and ride it a while you willl be happy with the machine. I ride a Foreman but either would be fine with me. I would ask the dealer to waterproof it for me or either I would buy a tube of silicone if I were you and Silicone around the rope pull starter, take the seat off and silicone around the air box to carburetor rubber sleeve and of course the snorkel that comes out of the air box and goes up under the fuel tank..It would be easy for you to do and you dont have to be mechanical. Enjoy your ride.

Well I lost me 1st reply somehow so here we go again , This one got some good responses good and bad , I agree with you spenced, you should check this stuff but , with only 54 mi. on it ?no!That is only one ride in some cases, the dealer simply MESSED UP and should be held responsible ! They have a prep check list they are suposed to go by , the tech forgot to tighten or to put it back on. Or worse senario yet the owners kid 11 or 12 yrs. old prepping your $7000 machine. OOH NO !! not mine but ,I have seen this 1st hand. The people saying he voided the warr. C' mon they advertise the machines going through all kinds of mud and water over the racks, thats what sells these things!!!. I have drowned my HONDA 300 4X4 twice , just changed the oil , rode it changed oil again ,it was fine . I sold it 6 yrs. later for $2100, as good as the day I bought it.If you do the oil a couple of times it should be alright. I firmly beleive that this is the techs fault, also did they show you all the fill holes and sticks and explain the machine to you before you took it cause they are suppose to?. I would go back to the dealer where you bought it and ask to see the prep records and see who the tech was , this may get someone in trouble , he may have messed up like this before, if he gets fired dont feel bad you are doing future buyers a favor. PS If I were a lawyer I would take this case GOOD LUCK keep us posted on the out come.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]

Rob,
guess I should have read his first post better,I did not recall reading that he owned this quad for 5 months.None the less, with only 54 miles on this quad,OUR dealership would warrenty this issue with no problem..Any GOOD dealership would! And im pleased to see that HIS did too.
Now I certainly agree with you that the customer has the responsability to do a PRE-RIDE inspection of his machine before each ride, however,I do NOT concider it a customers responsability to make sure that his dealership did the PDI correctly[pre deleivery Inspection]And since the oil cap is a PDI issue, this is the dealership responsability IMO.
No brand name dealer I know of will sell you a CRATED quad and allow you to assemble it.Too many liability issue's here..And the extra fee a dealer charges his customer to assemble or prep a quad is often WAY to high, however, these quads come to the dealership in crates, and they need SOME prep and assemble,so with this said, the dealer has to PAY somebody to do this assemble or prep, and the customer WILL bear the costs of this!!
Destination charges are also LEGITIMATE fee's that get passed on to the customer. The dealer does not get the quad deleivered to him for free,so again, the customer will burden this cost too.
What buyers have to watch out for is CROOKED dealer that sell you a particular ATV BELOW dealership INVOICE,BUT make up the differance by adding a bunch of other fee's that may look like this,
Freight Fee[Legit]
Destination Fee[SAME as FREIGHT-dont PAY FOR IT TWICE]
Assemble Fee[Legit]
Prep Fee[SAME as ASSEMBLE-dont PAY FOR IT TWICE]
Doc Fee[Legit up to 80 bucks]
Bank Fee[GARBAGE fee]
ECT ECT ECT???
Extra fee's should never be more than 3-400 bucks NO MATTER WHAT the dealer calls the above fee's?And even at that, the dealer is making a buck here too.Extra warrentee's are not included in these extra costs nor is taxes.
Did you know I now own a new 2005 King Quad 700 EFI?

In the end I'm glad it worked out OK for spenced. What counts. Still the oil should have been checked in that time period, maybe the cap would have been noticed. I actually saw on an ATV show that Suzuki starts and runs their ATV's. Not sure if they ship with oil, probably not.
Still wanting to see a Honda ad saying that their quads will go through fender high water. How about it Doggy?
