I have a 2004 foreman and i dont think that it is running as fast as it should be. The only thing not stock about it is a set of 26" gators. When i first got it, it would run 51 mph. Now it has almost 2 hundred miles on it and it only runs 39 mph. I carried it back to the dealer i got it from (still under warranty), and they refused to work on it telling me that they only get slower as they get broke in and that there is nothing that can be done. I know that a foreman isnt the fastest bike out there, but that i can expect it to run less than forty has got to be bull$%*#!!!!! So id like to know what everyone else has gotten their bikes to run. Also, if anyone knows how i could get in touch with the main office for Honda USA, id appreciate it.


By the way, dont buy crap from Steve's Marine in Magnolia, AR. They refuse to warranty anything.

 

Does it seem to rev as high as before? Im wondering if the clutch might be slipping , due to the added resistance of the bigger more aggressive tires.
My 2003, will still run 50 or so, with about 10 lbs of air in the tires, and thats about all its ever been able to go.

 

The weight of tires is going to slow it down a little. Especially, since more weight has moved further out from the center of the rim. Second, the bigger size definately throws the speedometer off to the slower side. The wheel is turning a less amt of times for every mile/hr since it is larger and thus, the speedometer thinks you are going slower than you are.

 

Try driving it next to or behind another vehicle. Tell the person to keep it at a certain steady speed. Either that or try a gps.

The top speed of my Foreman is around 52/53 with a gps, stock tires, and 1500+ miles on it.

 

I had a thread on here about the same thing a while back. I bought my Foreman in October and its a 04 model with manual shifter. It wouldnt run but around 38 on a flat road. Fifth gear it really falls on its face. I also have a 26inch bigfoot kit on mine , plus I installed an hmf performance kit with slip on muffler, jet kit, and filter and sock kit. Top end stayed the same but bottom end increased. Last week when riding a guy told me to remove the silencer and I would see a huge difference and he was right. It was like it had nitrous or something. All the way through the power band. the noise is too much though so I am gonna work on the silencer to see if I can get the best of both worlds. I only have 62 hours on mine at this point. I am wondering if maybe your muffler is getting stopped up! It would make sense, because yours used to be so fast. You may want to remove the baffle and try it just to see. Keep us posted. Oh yea, my top speed increased to 45 and still was pulling strong with the baffle removed.

 

I have a 2003 Foreman S with 26 inch swamp witch tires and it has topped out at 51 m/ph recently i have run 45 easily with still throttle to go But havent maxed it back out in over 3 months.

 

Our 03' foreman ES has 26" Dirt Devil's and 6000 miles on it, and it will still fun up in the high 40's easy. it jsut takes alittle longer to get there with the bigger and much heavier tires on it.

 

my 2004 foreman 450 s on flat with 26 inch bear claws will do 104 km/h (65 mph)and then down a hill i got 114 km/h (71 mph) and she puts out about 50 hp
