I haven't been able to ride for 2 weeks now bescause of a staff infection in my right leg. I just got out of the hospital Monday, and now I have to go back in tonight for who knows how long. After 3 surgeries and time spent in a hospital bed in the last 2 weeks, i've come to this conclusion:Never let them cut you open in the hospital unless you are dying! The chances of getting a staff infection are very real!

Next time make sure the Doc washes their hands before the operation.

Seriously that really sucks. Sorry to hear about it.

It's a very serious infection that you can get from just about any where. It's anti-biotic resistant and they usually culture it for a few days so they can get a good look at it under a microscope. That way they know which anti-biotic to give you which will have the best affect at getting rid of the infection.
Maybe some one will drop off a few quad mag's to tide you over until your back on your feet. I know it sucks but keep your chin up and hang in there. We care!

My Grandfather died from staff infection last August. Staff is nothing to mess around with, but with the right treatment and no other complications most people recover quickly. He went into the hospital with a skin rash and died a month later from their treatment!
They had placed a "universal port" into his groin area so they could use this same port for injecting all the medications that were supposed to cure him. They didn't keep it clean and the rest is history.
He was 82 years old, but in very good health. He maintained his own cars, a 3+ acre yard and his house until the day he went into hospital. In Fact, he had toured the rainforest and Mayan ruins, two months before.
Take care of yourself. Buy a Playstation and one of the MX or ATV games and take it easy until you get better.

You are right. Technically it is Staph or Staphylococcus. However, in my Grandfather's case it was caused by the "Staff". However you spell it, I hope letitsnow gets well soon and back to riding.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. As it turned out, I only had to spend 1 more night in the hospital. I will be riding very soon now! Yes, it was the St. Cloud hospital.
