The rear brake on my 04 250ex is stuck. I washed it after the last ride and parked it with the e-brake on, now it's 5 degrees out and the brake is stuck. The rear brake is frozen and there is alot of play in the brake lever. Should I heat the brake cable? The rear brake is a sealed drum, should I heat the brake drum cover? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

first, who the heck washes their atv in single digit temps? and expects it not to freeze, its probably frozen to the brake thing, keep it in a warm place, but first try taking off the parking brake.

Believe it or not, it was 57 degrees here last week. That was the last time I rode it. It was too nice out to put a dirty bike in the garage. I didn't expect a 50 degree tempature swing in five days. That doesn't change the fact that they are still stuck. By the way, the e-brake is off.

 

in guessing there was water in your drum after washing it and it froze when the temp. went down.

 

put a space heater on different parts of the brake system until the brake comes back, same thing happened to my '04 250ex today, thats how i fixed it
