Help? Rubicon Big Tire Kits
#1
I am looking to purchase tires and rims for my 02 Rubicon. I have heard conflicting reports. Some dealers say i need a lift. others say i need a bracket for the fender. what is the biggest tire i can put on without lift, fender bracket relocation. I was debating between a mud tire like the mudzilla's or the mud lites an all around tire. I do some mudding and some trail riding. What size is recomended. 26inch 27 inch.

i think you can get away with like 26" mudlites or 589's on the rubicon without the fender braket kit or loss of power. 27"s you might need the fender kit cause the lugs might rub the little support bars under the fenders. i put 27"s on my brute but i think i would stick with 26" on the rubicon especially if you dont do alot of mudding. the mudzillas look alittle extreme for trailriding imo. i put 25" gators on my rubicon and it goes good, i just didnt want to lose any power off bottom end. i have seen 27" 589's on a rubicon at the dealership and they come real close to outside of the fender trim, the black part that kinda wraps down.

i have the 26" mud lites on mine and i dident need the lift kit but it was only $80 cdn.
but you dont need it.
as for tires get the mudzillas for the honda they put the mud lites to shame.
i was out with my friend who has the same quad as mine tires and all.
and he was walking beside his in the snow because the were digging for the bottem while the mudzillas road ontop of the snow and they realy make them look bad in the mud.
my next set and every set i buy from now on are the zillas.
the zillas tread is deeper and wider and they overlap so you get a smooth ride on the dirt roads.
ive had gators and mud lites and i was very impressed with both untill i tryed these.
now ill never buy another.
and the 25" zillas have the same 1 1/2" tread too so you dont need to go bigger then stock if you dont want to.
but i would not go any bigger then 26" no matter what because they rob to much power.
and it will bog in the mud.
go for the zillas youll love them.
plus they look like they will eat any terrane alive.
and they do.

The 26" tires will fit fine w/o the fender kit. For 27" you will need it. For serious mud the Mudzilla or Highlifter Outlaw(best pure mud tire) can't be beaten. If you do more trail riding with occasional mudding, the Mud Bug, ITP 589, or Mud Lite will suite you fine.
