hey thanks Callen74! I already have the wheel spacers, they help a little bit--i don't do the "tippy" going fast in/out of turns now! i'm not quite sure what you mean about the offset rims? where is St. James Dunes?

atvrider300ex,
An offset rim is when you turn your stock wheel around and the deep section is facing outwards. Douglas makes rims like this where the valve stem is in the correct location and it will give you +1 or +2 up front. St. James is near Southport probably a hour from yall. There are miles and miles of sand trails and even sand dunes. Also, when it is lowtide you can go out on the intercoastal waterway and climb hills and race jet-skis. It's a beautiful place to ride! By far, it's my favorite place to go. If yall want to meet up I'll gladly show you where it's at. What does your husband have done to his quad?

ya but the douglas rims protect your brake rotors... Flipping around the stock rims expose your rotors to rocks, etc... Crack...broken rotor..Unless you are talking about the rear..

Sounds like some pretty nice quads! In my opinion, Holeshots are great tires especially the new 18 mx version. When I'm out trailriding I run the stock radials in the back and 21 holeshots up front and when I'm on the track I run the mx holeshots. I have a brand new set of 20-11-9 Maxxis Razors if your interested. At St. James you don't need paddle tires regular tires work fine. It's sand down there but not real fine sand. Oh yeah, what do you think of the rancher? I'm probably going to pick up a 4x4 one soon for mudsliging and for my girlfriend to ride. My 400 is getting to nice to put in alot of mud.

My bike is essentially stock except for the shocks. I run about 3 1/4" of sag front and rear (about 7 1/2" of frame clearance with me on it). Substantial cornering improvement due to both the lower center of gravity and that while sitting on my quad I am sitting on the primary spring, which means little body roll in the corners, but still with the ability to make up for little imperfrections in the terrain on the "tender" spring, for good ride quality. If you lower the top spring retainer without removing shims, you are effectively eliminating the "tender" spring by raising the crossover height, you are adding preload for a higher ride height. So you get a higher center of gravity and a more harsh ride, there are a couple more drawbacks as well....

Think about a car. Automotive suspension runs a lot of "sag" too, for the same reasons.....

I ride Harescrambles, MX, and ATV Rodeo events. This setup works very well. Just got back from an ATV Rodeo a few minutes ago, won 3 out of 4 events I entered, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to 40 riders per event (depending on which event). The event I didn't win was a TT style oval lap race, I was out HP'd by the Banshees'.

Yep, that was the 2nd day of hitting that jump. Probably did it 30 or more times between the two days. I wish that track was closer to me and open to ATV's more often....
