So there it is in black and white, and like it or not your stock 400ex isnt going to be passing cars on the hiway in a 75mph zone (where you would be a total moron to ride in the first place!!) but it will get up to the speeds discussed earlier and do a very good job of performing in its normal range, and has plenty of potential with the right mods etc.
Continue to post all the new nonsense you like (you will know who you are when you read this lol) as I am no longer tracking this thread because it seems after all the usable info is posted is when all the crazy claims come out, and this doesnt help anyone in any way.

ok..for on top speed shouldnt matter...its the rider if there isnt a good rider that knows how to use the speed then u dont have anything...id have to agree the 400 is close to the 450..not on the first start but n op n there close. the 450 does around 75, 90 with the optional performance kit ...id have to say the honda will do high 60's to top end 72 with some tweeking. just my 2cent

wow PBR we are riding the same machines with the same mods!I have BOTH the ds650 and a 400ex...And Yes the ds is geared down at the DEALER to only run 75 for the public!I bought my ds from a buddy that worked for a dealership and has Piles of the front sprockets for the ds650 that come from the factory and a top speed(before the sale sprocket is installed)is 82mph now after a ron woods stage2 kit the ds will run a quick 94mph (on police radar on the road)my 01 400ex(on the road same cop)bone stock ran 64mph and after a white bros eseries full exhaust,rev box,416 big bore,k&n,jetting,and sprockets it will run 78mph(same road,same cop)!Good thing the cop is a buddy of mine and didn't have a problem pulling the cruiser to the end of the driveway to shoot us ripping by(he wasn't p@ssed til his CRAPTOR 660 only ran 76mph right after my 400ex ran 78!haha The ds is a great straight line and dune machine and is also great for a LARGER rider but at a slim 155lbs unless i want to just kill someone in straight line drags or someone gets a new quad in the neiborhood,the 400ex is just more fun to ride and is plenty fast enough to outrun a 660craptor anyday of the week.just my 2 cents!
