I have a few questions about the 450r.
I am picking up my new black 450 on friday for a price of 5499. I am paying cash for it, is this a good deal????
How does the black plastic hold up with scuffs and scrathces???
Is the HRC kit worth getting installed because I am having that put on before i buy???
answers would be greatly appreciated

Word is that black plastic gets pretty trashed pretty quick. I got the HRC kit installed, and highly recommend it.

I talked to a guy who has the black one and he says it scratches up pretty quick. You need to use armorall or wd40 on it to keep a shine.
I didn't put the HRC kit in mine.
I bought a 2 inch end cap and jet kit off ebay for $45.00. Rejetted carb, cut open airbox and replaced stock muffler tip and spark arrestor.
I also put in a Hotcam Stage II that I bought for $100.00 and installed that.
So for $145.00 I got as much or more than the HRC kit which they charge $300.00 for and $250.00 to install it.

Mines black and no it doesn't scratch any faster than any other color, it's just easier to see on black!!! The only time you notice scratches are when it's not being ridden, so just keep riding!!!

IMO the only things good in the HRC kit are the cam and the needle. There is only a few other cams that will out perform the HRC cam across the entire power curve, and no most people have not heard of them. However it takes alot to make them work. For a drop in cam NOTHING compares to the HRC.

Save your money and buy a complete exhaust. This alone will give you nearly the same power if not a bit more than the HRC kit. Then watch websites that tailor to the 450r, ocassionally you can find an HRc cam for sale for 100.

1. Great price if that's out the door??
2. Take off the toe dragging metal tips off your boots
3. Even with scratches.....black is cooler looking
