Fortunately, I do know what I'm talking about. You don't! Believe me, the last thing I want to do is admit that a yami is better than a honda but power wise it is out of the box. I've been a honda boy since the ATC era and only have purchased other brands due to hondas lack of keeping up with the competition. I let experience be my judge not personal feelings. Or, maybe you have raced some weak riders and that's why you think your bike is so great.

 

I also have been a Honda guy for years. Rode the 250Rs since 97, but have also had Honda bikes in the garage since 1980 (CR125 and CR250R).

I waited till the Honda 450 came out, because I was such a die hard Honda fan, but after riding both, and reading the reports, and seeing the Horse power ratings along with how much more HP can be easily gained by the YFZ with simple, and "free" mods, I decided to go with the YFZ.

I still have my 88250R, set up for sand, and will never get rid of it if I don't have to.

Like I said, I don't MX, so that is probably a lot closer match between the two, but as far as Sand riding is concerned, I am very glad I made the choice to go with the YFZ.

There is DEFINATELY a noticeable difference.

 

You are absolutely correct, especially in the sand the yfz puts a hurtin on the 450r until you get into major motor mods then the hp can be brought out and dollar for dollar the 450r becomes the dominate.

 

If its comfort you want buy a kodiak aka(The couch)

Honda 400ex or Raptor 660c ?

Yep I'm in the bunch of guy that Yamaha tried his new product on me for the great price of 11 000 CAN$... to get a big crap out of the box.

One thing I can say.... when this choice came to me -> "Yam450 or Honda450R ?"

Yam is faster ? Yam is best for mx ? Yam is ??? I'm not a PRO RIDER and it is not important.

I know that the new raptors are good now, for shure I reported all the problems to Yamaha for free in 2001! Good way to test a product u think ?

I'm still shure that Yamaha's 450 is a good product to buy.

Calm down there PLG I'm glad you got your simple honda. Fact is there both great bikes. Honda builds a great motorcycle but yamaha builds a great quad

I just said I got a 2001 Raptor (new in 2001 for 11 000$can) and got too much troubles with it and I payed for...(4000$can)

So when I had to choose again between Honda et Yamaha, I took Honda.

Fix my ignorance ? Everybody knows that 2001 Raptors are crap out of the box and was not ready to go, and now Raptor are great machine. Don't know who is ignorant..? I got a 2001 did u got one ?

YFZ is a straight motorcycle motor directly from the Yamaha's motorcycle shop. Honda got the 450R (CRF ) motor modified to get into a quad. Did u know ?

My simple 450R, since yesterday is now a HRC 450R...
