Default Test Solenoid

Is there anyway to test a solenoid? I got my starter yanked off right now since its fried. Gonna head up to my local honda shop in a few hours, so is there anyway to test my solenoid? My quad hasn't been started up for a while.

yes, use a test light. you should have 12v (light comes on) always on one side. when you push starter button there should be 12V on the opposite side (checked while starter button is being pushed in). also, there should be a spot where the ignition pole also lights up your test light when the starter button is being pushed in. your battery needs to be hooked up and working, but you don't need starter installed to make this check.
