400ex vs. Z400
Our wives had 400ex's. We upgraded them to Z400's. My bro has an Athena 434z and a Yoshi 450z. My wifes Z400 has about 350hrs on it. On May 7 it will be three years old. I haven't even adjusted the chain. Not a single problem. We put on a HMF and K&N and rejetted it. She rides better w/ the Z then the ex. The Z's snappier more rev happy motor gets her out of potential situations easier.. The Athena and Yoshi Z's will simply wax a 440ex and the 440 can run on 110 and the Z's run on 91octane. My bro had a Trinity DVX440 Artic Cat. Gutless compared to the Athena and Yoshi.. The ex is yesterdays news and the Z is todays news. Honda made a desperate attempt by updating the 400ex. It will not work.

I wonder why those ex's are always so competative with the Z's at the track if they're so outdated? Course they both have their a$$es handed to them by the 450's. So I guess, in all honesty, they are both yesterday's news.

What I don't understand is how is Sandguy talking like the 400ex is SOO inferior when a Cannondale is based of the EX frame(the dimensions, I know it is aluminum)? It even has handling charactoristics the same as a EX LOL, something is not right there.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]
Like I said, there is not much a difference, a Z IS just an updated EX. And I totally disagree that a Z is better for the wife, the EX motor will lug a lot better which in turn can be safer.
And a Z will need more maintnance than the EX. Having your wife putting around on it deosn't count. Even a EX is going to need maintnance after 3 years. Especially a chain adjustment. Any chain will stretch, it has nothing to do with the quad's reliability. Well it won't strecth if it is being used as a pit bike I guess.

Picking on a persons riding ability when you have no idea who they are says alot about you.. Your assumptions are DEAD WRONG my friend.. Lets compare the quads not the riders you know nothing about.. A Z400 doesn't fall into the 450 category of racers anymore. It is not yesterdays news. It has reverse, dohc, 4 valves, watercooled, electric start. This is todays news not yesterdays. Just because it can't run the fastest lap times doesn't make it yesterdays news. If todays news is so current why are we still gusseting frames then???? al la YFZs and 450r's...on race machines at that... Tomorrows news is EFI, aluminum frame, computer, casette tranny. When's that coming I wonder????

What the heck are your talking about picking on your riding ability? All I said was they are competative at the track. And I've rode with a Z. It does not dominate my EX.
And in my neck of the woods, the 400's DO race with the 450's. Why wouldn't I compare them too?

And just because a quad doesn't have the lates goodies doesn't mean it is inferior for it's purpose. In all reality the 450's are more inferior cause they are pretty much one purpose built. While the other quads are more versatile. And what if a guy doesn't want all that advancement, he just wants a good trail quad, it doesn't have to be the latest and greatest, it can be a recon as long as he has fun.
So it is in the top league if it doesn't have the latest and greatest huh? Well then the 450's are low on the charts cause they don't even have the technology of reverse and one ain't got reverse![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

I have been on this forum for four years. I don't argue or put down others. Believe what you want that is your right. We ride a Z400, because it is a better machine and my wife doesn't putt around... She is a better rider because of the machine and that is not something we dreamed up in her 6 yrs of riding dunes at a pace most guys envy.... This is a thread hijacking so I will leave it at that..
