this is a dumb question:

i dont even know what to say.....all these years, i have been doing it this way and always yeilded the same results.
listen up robnhouston- i have had just about enough of you, being you never contribute, and always have some type of snyde remark, both your rancher and old kq are both shaft drive bikes, NO GEARING CHANGES THERE...so why are you here?
i went and threw a smaller sprocket on my RM ON THE REAR, and guess what it has a LOWER top speed. being the motor HAS TO TURN THE WHEEL MORE TIMES, WITH THE SMALLER SPROCKET, OPPOSE TO a bigger one, it is harder for a motor to turn larger gearing, thus the smaller rear sprocket would let the motor turn easier, and therefore have better acceleration. plain and simple.
just think of rock crawlers- they want that lowest possible gear ratio, so they drop the gears to a area that is suitable for low speed crawling, which is SMALLER lower reduction gears in the rear, and frount to yeild more torque.
~~So if i want more bottom end acceleration i want a smaller front and a bigger rear (that sounds kinda wierd don't it).... but anyway am i correct... ~~
iwannaride2- see im not the only one thinking about this, even after 2 pages your still confused, it sure does sound wierd.....but hey whatever, let it fly.
oh and robnhouston- your remarks arent appriciated, i remember almost a year ago you b!tching at me, for something, are you still mad about it?

First of all...Kyle, I was racing Yamaha Mini Enduros when you still an egg floating around somewhere. 1974 was the year I believe. Then on to bigger YZ's. My last bike was a YZ250J. My best friend had a Suzuki RM with the full floater. Opps, you might have never heard of that rear end because you weren't even born yet even though Suzuki probably still uses a variation of that rear end. I got out of the bikes to focus on my career and a future family. Hmm your 17 and I have a 15yo son...hehe I'm old enough to be your daddy!! hehe. So yes I've had a little bike action before. I watch your posts and come in when your mouth gets you into trouble. You know if you're wrong it's real easy to say so and move on. OK so now you put a smaller sprocket on your RM (leaving the front alone) and your RM as more low end. Fine, everyone remembers your Vinson being able to pull a car sideways on dry pavement..was that a Yugo? Nah I think it was a limo right? And your vinny has 900hp as per a dyno chart we never saw. Of course it can outrun any new KQ, BF, take your pick. Oh and there was a promised video of some this action that never came out. Technical problems with your computer now.
So keep making up your stories and digging youself into a deeper hole. I know how the physics of a gear work. It's real funny how you get the fronts right but the rears wrong. One has to be opposite of the other. But you have a special RM there. Do you bow hunt? You know how to adjust the sites on a bow? Uhh yes you do...move the site down to raise the flight of the arrow...also move the site DOWN to lower the flight of the arrow. Funny huh?
Still you should put this on your CAD program...if you really have that and you will see the physics of the whole thing. This thread was in perfect order until you came out with some mis information. Tell you what Kyle, I'm sure you have a 10, 15 or 20 speed bike. I'm sure you even have Lance Armstrongs bike lying around. Keep the front gear the same and move the chain to the smaller rear gear. Then cycle up that hill your quad pulled a truck up in the snow. Then try it again on the bigger rear gear. Then tell us how you have more low end on the smaller gear.
Now I expect you to start with the F bombs now, at least as soon as you get out of school.

Oh boy..where to start
Again totally missed the point and side stepped the issue. You know some people consider ATV riders red necks. Better be careful.
look at your bike come on they are glued togeather, dont be jelous because i have what i do, btw mommy and daddy were out of the equation for all these bikes. and also i buy and sell bikes, making a great profit.
Ok sure everyone believes your 17 and make 100k a year. Let's see I remember your posts 2-3 year ago, so you were 14-15 and buying all this stuff on your own. Hah maybe your on a trust. No one is buying that here.
WOW how to respond to this. And you're 17-18? Been married, raised 2 kids, supported a family? Dude this line is wwway out there...even for you.
hmmm, sort of admitting you're wrong by including others. Not sure it was 15 people. Oh it was 3 counting you. Oh and 1 recanted his comment. So that means 2. Dude check your facts will you. this exaggerating is what is getting you in trouble.
And this is a good thing.
hmm, please reread this sentence and see how it sound. Many posts you have chosen to start the f bombs.
nah I'm only trying to deflate you ego. I never said I was better, my quad is faster, my brain is smarter. just you.
hmmm, a 2 minute search found this quote from you... "...... i have ridden a kq and wasnt all that impressed, i dont think the power was all that spectacular, not better then my vinny i'll tell ya that. and if i nailed it from a standstill it felt like a quad just jetted wrong, i couldnt live with a cutting out feeling, and full throttle reverse is just nice to get you out of situations"
He rides but is not a racer. Rides just to have fun and ride with me. He's a sophmore taking some AP classes. 10th grade and is in pre-cal. So he is focusing on his studies at this time. He's worked hard and done well considering the times and peer pressure.
Isn't that your Dad's company?
Well get in one last jab as you end it...nice. But here you go taking about something of which you know nothing about. You wouldn't have a clue as to the type of father I am. I don't brag about being the best father or anything. I'm sure there are better role models out there than I. But my 2 kids seem to be happy. They're certainly not spoiled.
Well since you brought it up yes....He's was a top speller in grade school when they had the spelling bees. So he doesn't mispell words. He can also write complete sentences. Oh and he can write math equations longer than your best sentence. his GPA is about a 3.8 even in all the advanced classes. Half of his classes he's the youngest, most of the others are 11 and 12th graders. Although not the fastest he's quite a swimmer on the swim team. And he doesn't drink, doesn't smoke and I've never heard him cuss and he's a Christian. And he's now getting interested in some of my play stuff. Woodworking and mechanicing. He's learning to work on dozers, cars, and even helped me swap out the tires on the KQ. Remember Kyle...YOU brought the comparision to my son...not I. But since you brought it up I'm going to run with it.
Correct, Mx was in my younger days...2 knee operations later I can still walk. No I don't ride hard (to hard) because I have responsibilities to others unlike you. BTW I've been offered to ride a couple MX bikes and I refused. I'd probably killmyself because in my mine I'd be 18 again and try and ride like it. hehe...I'm not 18.
WOW that's a lot of flashy cars. All of those and a beater pick up. But you're right, I would not consider a 1987 911 to tow a beater out of the ditch. But you did get to impress us with all those flashy car names. More bragging?
get over what?
Moroneys...say isn't that where you got you dyno and no printout?
hmmm? WTH? I only said I started riding in 74 or so, not sure of your point there. So if I rebuild a dozer engine in 1980 then 25 years later I'm to stupid to rebuild another one. Gosh Kyle, think how stupid you'll be in 25 years? But worse!!! I'll be even more stupid. What a paradox.
You know pal if you wanted to end this sooner then all you had to do was say..."oops...I got mixed up and yall are correct" No harm and no fowl. I guess that comes with growing up. And there are some very mature young folks here. You're just not one of them.
well first off i dont bow hunt because im not a lazy red neck, second off i did post a video, mabey you were to drunk being a red neck.
look at your bike come on they are glued togeather, dont be jelous because i have what i do, btw mommy and daddy were out of the equation for all these bikes. and also i buy and sell bikes, making a great profit.
mabey all you have done in your life is good for you, but the knowledge and know how i have surpassed what you could fathom.
the whole sprocket thing mabey i got confused a bit as did 15 other people.
ahh yes. the full floater rear end, know it quite well as a matter of fact, being suzuki used it on the quadracers as well, it had a backwards mounted shock with a early form of linkage, suzuki doesnt use it anymore for the fact they know how to get more travel and more plushness out of a more modern design.
No need to curse, that only makes you sould illerate, and uneducated.
rob- your from texas, now you guys always say everythings big in texas right? I think the only thing big here is your over inflated ego.
the vinson outrunning a new BF, KQ p700, lmao thats funny, they will hand it to me.
i bet your 15 year old son also has the knowledge about this type of thing that i do, oh thats right mabey he doesnt ride???
Also on a side note.- my ability of knowing how to use autocad, comes from working in the IT department of a 500+ person, multi office engineering firm, i also do most of the network administration there as well, as any other type of "computer" relaited thing.
im going to be the bigger man here and end it, because you as a father apparently arent the best role model.
tell me rob? would your 15 year old talk in this type of english to you, and actually know what he is talking about?
judgeing by the bikes you ride- you either do one of 2 things.....farm or dont ride hard, and just putt around.
oh and the car towing i still stand by, i have two witnesses, one being my 25 year old brother, and my 50 year old father. the truck was a 1995 f-150 2wd 5spd, used as a truck to just throw junk in, being he didnt want to dirty his 2004 f-250 superduty turbo diesel, explorer. or 1985 BMW euro M6, or his girlfriends cars, a 2001 BMW 330ci, or her 1987 911.
hah lance armstrongs bike, good for that guy, think its amazing he recovered and accomplished so much for that i praise him, but beyond that you ride a bike, get over it.
have a nice day rob, i dont expect to be hearing much more from you because the things you say your good at were in the past, to quote you 1974 to be exact. oh and a little piece of nostalgia for you i also own a 1973 suzuki TS250 enduro, registered in NY that is still road legal. granted the bike was not purchased by myself, BUT it was my grandfathers, who his son raced with PAT MORONEYS kids, at modena MX, in modena, NY, bike was passed down to me from my mom, who asked if my grandfather would still like it, and being he is 80+ years, old when he moved to florida he just gave it to me, titled and all, with all the origional recipts, and paperwork.

listen man, im not trying to **** you off, or get on anyones bad side alright, im not bragging just stateing the facts.
the moroneys guys have the dyno there either once or twice a year depending. i wouldnt worry about it either, being you are in texas.
just outta curiosity.......how is it you can go on a atv forum at work? and being you are going to ask me the same, its because i have the flu so im not at work/school.

If you were refering to me as the one who recanted thats not actually true, I just assumed because he had the front right he had the rest right also. Thats my fault for not following through completely. I don't know what V581 said in past posts but I didn't see anything out of line in this post so you shouldn't be so hostle. Finally being older dosn't make you wiser it just makes you older.

Ummm...I am not trying to jump in the middle of an argument, but i still am wondering what i should do for bottom end acceleration on my bike...you guys have me completely confused....if anyone can help it would be really great...thnx

Please dont let this thread confuse anyone who didnt already know the answer, or cause those who did to doubt themselves.
So for bottom end acceleration you need to drop a tooth on the front or pick up a couple on the rear.
