Default Warning EBay Scam with a 450R

Last night I bid on and won an Ebay auction involving a 2004 Honda 450R.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

It looked a little to good to be true, but I thought what the heck, I will give it a try.

As soon as the auction ended I received an e-mail from the seller requesting that I immediately send $200 by Western Union to a foriegn address to initiate the shipping of the 450R from California.

NEVER SEND MONEY BY WESTERN UNION TO A FORIEGN ADDRESS. YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED AND ARE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY.

The seller included some information about a bogus buyer protection program.

Don't get taken by this scam. I exchanged several e-mails with the so called seller. He was very sophisticated and quick to respond. Don't be fooled.

I have reported the matter to eBay and have left negative feedback to warn others.

I will post the text of the email later today when I have access to my e-mail account.

The Scam Artist (aka seller) said the machine was located in San Francisco. The ebay id is register to an address in Oregon. He asked that I send payment to an address in England.

I think he is hiding in a cave outside Tora Bora, Afganistan.

People are hacking eBay accounts more often than some of us take a ****...

I almost got scammed for $1500 when I won an auction for an Alienware Laptop. Same kind of scenario... Way too cheap, and the ad said the seller was in Georgia but after I had won, he asked to send the money to Romania. 45mins After I had realized it was a scam, eBay emailed me and said the account has been used by an unauthorized third party.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, I hope you didn't lose any money.

It was a red flag. It was one of many reasons why I was suspicious.

Default Warning EBay Scam with a 450R

This is the text of the first email I received...

Hi,

I am glad you want to purchase my bike. Before we proceed the transaction I want to let you know that the bike is in very good condition. The final price is $3,535 + $200 shipping (50%), Iwill pay the other half. But first i need the 200 bucks to start the haul.

The bike will be shipped from CA. and I will pay the insured shipping taxes through Sky Star Express. You can verify the tracking number at http://www.skystarexpress.org

The bike will be shipped through Sky Star Express services(Express shipping 5 days) and it will be insured on the transport.

You will receive the bike within 5 working days. I provide a 15 days money back guarantee, no questions asked. This means that within 15 working days you will decide if you want or not to keep the unit, for whichever reason, you'll ship it back to me on my expenses and you'll get the full amount back. I suggest you to use Western Union because is the fastest and easiest way to send money world wide.

All you must do is go to a Western Union office and send the money from your name to my name (www.WesternUnion.com).

Please confirm your full name and address for shipping details. And leave a phone number where I can reach you most of the day.

Here is my Full Name and Address:
Gerard Lawson
21 FETTER LANE
LONDON
EC4A 1JU
ENGLAND

I will start the shipping and I will let you to know the tracking number of the package by Sky Star Express. And after you receive the tracking number and verify it at www.skystarexpress.org you will make the payment. If you write to www.skystarexpress.org they will
tell you what they transport with that tracking number.

Remember, you will make the payment only after you make sure that the bike is heading towards you, because I am telling all these because I don't want any problems.

Or if you want to use a third party for this deal we can use an insurance company. You still have to make the payment at Western Union
but instead of giving me the payment details you will send them to insurance company. They will hold the payment details until you receive the unit and confirm that you are satisfied with what you received. If you are not satisfied with what you received just e-mail
insurance company and they will send someone to pick up the unit and repay you the full amount spent when purchasing.
You can contact them at support@billing-square-trade.com, you can ask about my personal account and the services they have.

It doesn't really matter which method you accept, all I want is to make a deal and have a payment confirmation today.

Let me know.
Thanks
