I believe all 400ex's have a tendency to "ping" - heard running higher octane fuel can help.

I've never had any problems with my 2003, when it was stock it ran with all the other 400's. I ran it on 87 octane when it was stock and had no pinging. With the high compression I'm running now though it will ping under extreme load running 91 octane premium.. I need to start mixing race gas.
