Default First Ride with Mud-Lites

Got out on the trails a bit this weekend. They do ride well on hard packs and roads. I put these on the KQ. Maybe a slight loss of power but maybe not that much. I actually aired them down to 9psi. Seems I like to run a lot more air in my quads because of where I ride. The first hard straight line front braking was a bit loosey-goosey to. Maybe because of the air pressure or the bigger cleats.

But if you want to make some new trails then do so with new mud-lites. Even on the KQ these tires toss up some roost and till things up a lot. No mud riding yet.

I'm happy. I'l be putting them on the rancher.

They wear so fast that it makes them pretty much useless

Funny, I've been riding them hard on all sorts of terrain for over a year and they still have at least 75% of their original tread.

You're lucky then, because any of the quads I ride with that have mudlites have warn down to basically nothing in less than 6 months of riding....

It depends on what you are riding on, on how they wear. Obviously the harder the ground, the quicker they wear. I put a set on my Rancher (25X8 front, 25X10 back) exactly 1 year ago. I have 4600kms on them and they are worn a little more than halfway. They work well on hardpack, they work well in mud, and they are cheap. However, here's what I found bad with them. The early 25" seem to be 2 ply, as they are very prone to holes. 1 of my back tires has 4 plugs, and, I am currently searching for new tires, as one front one has 11, yes ELEVEN plugs. One hole has 5 plugs alone, and it will not hold air for more then 5 minutes. That hole is on the sidewall. You cannot blame it on the trails alone, because I am the only one in our group that routinely has to plug holes on the trail, and there are 6 of us, each with different brands. Another thing I noted, is that the guys that I know who run 26" and up Mudlites are having NO problems with holes, or premature wear, but they appear to be 6 ply also.

I have decided I'm going with 589's this time around.

And that's my 2 cents on Mudlites.
