a friend of mine has an '02 400ex.it runs fine but you have to push it off.we were riding one day and he killed it and it would start back up.i have been looking at all the wires anf have not found the prob yet.every now and then i will look up and the neutral light will come on but when i hit the start button it clicks and the light shuts off.please help i'm tired of pushing him off everywhere we go

 

get a enw battery, or use a multimeter and check the battery for if it is full or not. so, is it acting like a dead battery, or running bad?

 

i've checked the battery.i think it is something a little more complicated.it runs perfect

 

Sounds like a relay or solinoide. Take it off, clean the connections and put grease or vaseline on them. To test it out..put a screwdriver across the two poles and it should start up.

 

yes, soleniod is a big one. also, check the connection on the solenoid, make sure very tight, happened to my cat, they werent tight and it would have no power.

 

Check the battery connections and you might want to check the fuse also.

 

i hate to say this garrett5462 but it is the battery.it will jump off fine but it is not recharging the battery.the battery should take a charge bbecause it is only a month old.could a bad stator keep it from charging the battery
