reliv007. The AT was brought up because the guy was interested in selectable 2wd/4wd, which is not currently available in the 350 ES, but IS on the 400 AT. I'm sorry if that confuses you.

I know that he wants selectable 4x4 but he should just get the WARN 424 unlocker! With that the rancher 350 would be a much better ATV that an AT!

Why do you think it would be better than the AT? The AT has traxlok, it also allows you to select between ES and full auto, AND has a bigger engine. I'm curious as to why you think the 350 ES would be better.

Ok, you're not paying attention. The AT is manual AND auto. You can switch between the two. The AT has the same exact ES (electronic shift) that the 350 ES has.

oh I thought something else! but the Rancher 350 would still be better cause theres less parts! And the Rancher 350 would be cheaper than the AT ever with a 424 unlocker! I would take an 05 Rancher350 ES 4x4 over an 05 Rancher AT anyday even if someone was giving it to me!

My only comment is that "How can a person state that he would never get a 400 AT over a 350 ES even if isomeone gave it to you". If you don't even own a quad, how can you make such statements??????? The purpose of this thread is to give suggestion that are supported with "Facts" and "Real life Experiences" of Owning a Quad, not riding as a passager.
There are many benefits about getting a Rancher 400 AT over a 350 ES, but I think it is useless to try to explain them to you since you are the expert and feel the "cause theres less parts" is a key reason to buy a quad?

F.Y.I.... I have driven the RancherES 350 4x4 and it was and still is awsome! Like people have said on here the AT will bog down in deep mud and the Rancher 350 will not as ive found out!Just cause someone doesnt own an ATV doesnt mean they cant know alot about 4-wheelers! When my neighbors bought their new 05 Foreman 500 2x4/4x4 and an 05 RancherES 350 4x4 they didnt know what the names of the ATV's were! I had to tell them the names , they also got a WARN winch 2.5 on the Foreman and all they knew was that it was a winch I took one look and I could tell it was a 2.5 and a WARN! They also got Oxlite cv boot gaurds and I had to explain what they were and what they did! I also had to show them where the primer was on the Rancher350 and they were like cool that will really help on the cold days!

So just cause a person doesnt own an ATV doesnt mean they cant know a ton about them so there HA!

not to be a *** but honestly the es is different on the at then on the 350, i have ridden both bikes, and the es on my bike you can feel it hitting gears, and u also need to let off the gas on the 350, on the 400 the es must be some type of torque converter limiter, you can't feel the gears and you can run WOT and hit the shift button and there is no bang, which means your not really shifting into an actual gear cause it would bang and jerk the hell out of ya, the 350 does have more torque, personally i feel my 350 can pull a 400 backwards in tug of war, but it is a nice machine if you have no interest in shifting

LittleBill. According to the Honda spec sheets, they are the same. I think the torque converter is only available on the Rincon. I haven't ridden the 350, so I have no idea. You are right, I can shift while wide open. It does jerk some, but there is no audible gear shift. The 350 does weigh less, so that helps. I'd be interested to see the results of a pull between the 350 and 400.
