In Alabama EVERYBODY calls them 4-wheelers, never even heard refer to them as quads, or atvs. I always say quad or bike on the forum b/c its easier/ quicker to type.

Like the dude said about Miss., in Alabama if your goin in a Jeep or Truck, its muddin' or if your on a 4-wheeler it ridin.

The only place you will hear them refered to as ATV's in Alabama, is in a saftey video or warning sticker.

 

In west Texas every one who has a quad calls them quad, everyone who does'nt have a quad but knows what a quad is, they call them 4-wheelers.

 

Yeah I have always considered taking my 4x4 truck out as muddin' or rootin'. I guess that is a southern thing. I remember the first time that I heard someone say going wheelin' and thought it strange. If I say four wheeler everyone around here knows exactly what I am talking about about. Now when sitting around in a general discussion most everyone say "My bike has......", and on these forums I do use ATV or quad to type quicker as I am a bad typist! Whatever we call them they sure are fun and life would be boring without them!

 

everyone says 4 wheeler here on the forms is quicker to call them quads so thats what i do

 

so i've come to the conclusion that if you live in a real place to go quadding, where there's real back country, mudslingin', and all round all out bring your 4wd they call them what they're supposed to be called: quads

"bike"? i mean i can see where 4 wheeler comes from, cuz like quad, it has FOUR in it...but bike? i have one of those, and it has pedals on it.

 

if i'm talking to a fellow wheeler, i say going to go ride my Z and they know, and say atv if there uninitiated types that give you a blank stare..[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

in upstate NY ive heard just about everything...me and my friends refer to them as quads...but i ask some people about "quads" and they dont even know what im talking about...then i say atvs or 4-wheelers and they do

 

NH ppl call um- quads, 4 wheelers, atvs, ohrv's(lol) and when they say lets go 4 wheelin'r wheelin we think of atv's

o yea i also heard them called quadrents lol

 

in mass we mostly call them quads i rarely ever call them four wheelers, only when explaining them to someone that dosent know what a quad is like and older person

 

I usually call mine a "wheeler".
