300EX died on me. Ideas?

Out riding yesterday and it was running great. Ran out of gas and turned it to reserve. 10 minutes of riding after this, it stalled a few times, then quit altogether and would only crank. I'm assuming after switching to reserve I picked up some "stuff" from the bottom of the tank, and it got into the carb. Got it apart last night, really didn't get into the carb yet. Btw, I did check for spark, and it is good.
I don't believe there is any kind of gas filter on these, is there? And again, isn't there some sort of screen in the tank? If so, I didn't check that out obviously.
I'd appreciate any help or ideas from any one

Yeah there's gas in it LOL!!! I only ran a 1/4 mile on reserve when I got back to the trailer and gassed up. Then went back out maybe a 1/2 mile and that was all she wrote.
Reading the Honda owners manual last night I did find out about that tank screen/filter. I'll check that out too TVRacing. Probably won't get to the quad until Friday and should wrap it up then.

Took the carb apart and cleaned everything, although everything looked OK. Put it back together and it's running strong!!!
Now how do you clean the tank screen? How do you get to it? Is it behind the fitting that screws into the tank, or does the petcock handle come apart some how?
