Decibels
#1
OK, perhaps I have a distorted idea about how loud certain decibel levels of 4-stroke ATV exhausts are. One example I have heard with my own ears is that of a Honda CRF450R dirtbike. I am told this bike is 102dbs stock. When I put an aftermarket exahust on my upcoming 400EX, I would enjoy a good throaty rumble on acceleration and am willing to let it be somewhat louder than stock. However, I am NOT looking for the roar that you can hear down in the creek bottoms from miles away, if you get what I mean. Many like it this way, but I just do not, so take that into consideration. Today, I heard what I believe to be a DG Xccelerator Stage 1 on a Kawasaki V-Force 700 and absolutely loved the sound level. I am not sure if it actually was a Stage 1 and what the decibel rating may be of that particular pipe. I am not looking for a DG, but that's just an example. I classify the 102dbs CRF450R as too loud, for me at least. If you have enough of an idea of what I'm looking for, will 96 dbs be alright, but not ear-splitting?

Well everyone always says how loud DG pipes are and they are loud..but if you dont want to have a really loud pipe than the DG stage 1 slip-on will be fine...the stage 3 is gonna be really loud and probably not what your looking for..cuz my quads pretty damn loud...pm Tyson150 he has a 400ex and it he has the DG xcclerator slip-on and loves it..he shall be able to help you out...i know you dont want a WB pipe cuz my friend has one on his 400ex and it loud as hell...

Does the FMF Q make good power for being so quiet vs. the stock system? Obivously it won't make as much as a Curtis Sparks X-6 or whatever the baddest one out there is, but would the purchase of the Q be justifiable if a guy wanted a power boost, not a lot of noise?
