450r rebuild
#1
I have heard that the 450r engine needs to be rebuilt every so many hours. I am looking into getting one to race for mx, and i suspect rebuilds are needed on a very high performance machine. but how long can you go before you need a rebuild? i have heard anywhere from 40 hours to 100 hours. even 100 hours could put you deep in the hole for racing. i was just interested on the honda owners' views on this. and how much time you can get out of your engine with regular oil changes.

The frequent rebuild figures you hear, are for dirt bikes that are being MX'ed. I know several guys who have dirt bikes that are ridden off-road, and they are over 100 hrs.
I am figuring on 100 hrs. Better to do it before you have to, and do some damage.

ya i know i thought 100 hours seemed not very long to me too. i race quads so im not one to do alot of trail riding and such. but even if you practiced for 2 hours a week and raced once in that week wich is about 40 min total..with practice added in. youre looking at a rebuild once a year if thats true! anyone else know any truth about this?
