What year 300 is it?
Most likely the slot for the key isnt the problem, itll be the electrical contacts inside of it.
If its a two wire switch, pull the connectors going to it, and use an ohmeter to check. in one position there should be continuity between the wires and in the other position itll be an open. My guess, is your going to find continuity in both positions.
At that point you can try to repair the contacts inside, or toss it and put in a toggle switch, or buy a new key switch.
