Rancher Recall & Honda Contact Number
#1
First, I would like to thank those of you who post info on this site. I purchased my first ATV (2001 Rancher-orange) a month ago, and this forum convinced me to choose a Honda. This site also informed me of the upcoming recall on the Ranchers so I did some research.
I contacted the Honda Mototcycle Customer Service Line (310-532-9811) According to them their are two upcoming recalls. The first was alluded to in the Forum, the a-arm problem. According to Honda aggressive riders, when jumping, sometimes notice flex in the frame at the front of the machine. This recall will attach a plate from the frame to the lower end of a-arm to eliminate this flex. Honda told me it was alright to ride my bike and did not warn me to stay off of it. The next recall they informed me about was for the shift plate. Honda has had several complaints about shift plate failure and has determined that two pins on the plate that are used to put the bike in gear can fail. They tend to see more failures on the manual models since shifting is more stressful. They have decided to replace all of the 2000 model shift plates. Honda was not sure wether any 2001 models would be affected, but were pretty sure this problem was corrected on the 2001 models.
I would be interested in hearing any other information that anyone has found on the Recall. Also I would like to find a pair of hand guards for my Rancher. Any info would be helpful. I have read the problems with the Maiyer handguards.
Does Moose make any for the Rancher????
