wiring qusetion
#1
I had a few topics about this already but i have run into another potential problem. I installed a cheap winch that has only two wires running from the remote/switch deal ( red and black ) that i hooked up directly to the battery. Ever since that my battery is being drained to the point when it sits for a while i cant start it. I charged op the battery and unhoked the two wires to the battery from the winch and now it seems fine. Why would this be?? I even installed a heavy duty toggle inline to stop the power to the remote switch. I dunno???

i'm pretty good at electrical stuff, that's what i do at the Ford dealership that i work at.
grounding it at somewhere other than the battery probably wont help, and i would personally recommend trying to keep the ground at the battery. This is the strongest ground you can possibly have, and gives you the most efficient winch operation.
Without actually seeing how your winch is set up, It's impossible to diagnose your problem. I guess make sure your connections are tight and that you wired everything up correctly, perhaps you hooked something up wrong and a relay is staying turned on.
