Default have a BIG problem

alright, so i was riding on sunday, and i turned the bike off after riding pretty hard. i went to kick it and the kicker was locked up. i looked down at my sightglass for the oil and the thing was empty. i figure the piston is locked up. i changed the oil on saturday and everything is tight. i pulled the drain plug out after it locked up and barely any came out. the drain plug was tight. i am using the amsoil 0w-40 synthetic oil, same as i always use. does honda cover this under warrantee? i dont understand what could have happened. the oil did not leak out. by the way it is a TRX 450r 05'. please help.

I don't know about the honda warrantee but i can tell ya your in some trouble. If they don't cover that than theres no telling what happened. the trans could have blown and or your piston seized, either way your paying some cash. Good Luck.

Well, there are only a number of things that COULD have happened.

1: You mistakenly put no, or way too little oil in her. (dont dismiss, you never know)
2: For some reason or another, the oil got burned REALLY fast from faulty or very worn out rings.

If this is the first time you have ridden since your oil change, I would bet on number 1.

Hope I helped.. hey, I would fill it with the proper amount of oil, and take it to honda and say "I dont know whats wrong with it".

Did you check the oil before you started it up the first time that day?

Just out of interest, what kind of oil are you running in your transmission? You didn't drain the engine, then add the new oil to the transmission by mistake, did you???

i added amsoil 0w-40 in the trans too. i was told by the dealer that that would work. i did look at the sight glass before i rode and it was full when i started riding. the thing is the low oil light NEVER came on.

In the future (after your expensive rebuild), run some "real" 2-stroke transmission lube in the trans. Your engine and trans are seperate, so why run wimpy engine oil in your trans? I use Maxima MTL.

I would think it could be between $500 and $3000 depending on the amount of damage. When you were riding it, did it get louder or start ticking or clicking a lot?
