Yep 36mm PWK is what I run on both of my R's. Though it looks like an airstriker it isnt. Its a quad-vent. You wont need anything bigger unless you get some agressive porting done. You may also want to pick up a new fuel filter too.

Another suggestion, switch your pre-mix oil to Amsoil Dominator, mix 50:1. Magic does not carry Amsoil, but its not hard to find.

50:1? that is pretty lean. you know from the factory you were supsosed to mix at 20:1? personally i wouldnt go over 40:1 specialy if you are riding in the heat. there was a few times i actually ran my R at 32:1 when i was doing alot of wide open riding in the heat. didnt loose but a tiny bit of power (almost unknowticable) BE SAFE!!!

I'm not trying to start a debate by suggesting somthing to somone, this is what I do and it works very well for me.

Dominator at 50:1 is plenty of lubrication and burns very clean. 20:1 was recomended back in the days of dyno oil that diddnt lubricate very well. With theese modern synthetics you mix according to the directions on the bottle.

When dominator first came out I was using Ams Series 2000 @32:1 in my Zilla. I Tried using Dominator @32:1 and it would not run on it, no matter how skinny I jetted it. Mixed it at 50:1, put the jetting back where it was for 32:1 on series 2000 oil and it cleaned right up. I've been using Amsoil products for the last 5 years and swear by them.

well i have never used that oil so you are probably right. i was just saying, that from my experience, 50:1 is pretty lean. make sure to read the bottle as to what the manufacturer suggests. good luck

Its some pretty heavy stuff. I use a ratio-rite cup when mixing fuel. It takes darn near a 1/2 gallon of gas to rinse the residue of oil from the cup. Its impressive, and the money you'll save in spark plugs alone is worth using it.

I didnt know it had a fuell filter? I always mixed at 32-1 with the RS 50 oil because that was what I was told to do. I was also told to only use premium gas with some added octane booster. I do go through a lot of spark plugs though?

Bore size mainly. I feel that a 38mm a/s is too big for a non ported 250R, You may get a little more on top but you will lose alot on the bottom. A 36 is just right IMHO for Michigan trails. Excellent bottom mid and top performance. You can putt all day and not have to look for an open area to clear your motor cause your plug is taking a crap.
My fuel range is about 75 miles before reserve.

You are going to need a few extra main jets to get it dialed in. Find out for sure what's in it, and get 3 up and 3 down. I believe the carb will have a 175 main in it, but have them check to make sure. I think I have ran as small as a 160 main when it gets into the mid 90"s, and as fat as 180 in the winter. I've never had to mess with the pilot jet.

I always do plug chops before the days ride to make sure my jetting is correct for that day. Temp, and humidity is a factor.

Klotz R-50 is the reason I went to Amsoil. Had more problems than I care to remember with that stuff, and a coffee can full of fouled plugs to show for it. Make sure you have ALL of that klotz premix out of your tank before adding the Ams. Like take the tank off the bike and dump it out, swish some fresh gas around and dump that out, then you will be good to go.

The bike doesnt have a fuel filter stock. They go inline on the fuel hose from tank to carb. Its a good idea to have them on all your dirt toys. You can also get new fuel line at magic, I use the clear stuff so you can see whats going on. I use small nylon zip ties for hose clamps too.

You will have no problem running Amsoil "Dominator" 50:1 with premium gas. Get a couple of extra plugs to get your jetting right and a new set of reed petals. I also run K&N air filter with outer wear, and no air box lid.

Sorry for the long winded post, trying to give you all the info you need before going to magic.

I just went back through last years notes, and 175 main jet is what I was running for summer time fun.

Use a 175 as a starting point and go from there.

Another item to to get from Magic is a Motion-Pro jet tool. Makes changing jets very easy, you wont have to tip your carb
to get at the main jet.

Sorry I missed the post before I went to Magic racing.I went there at lunch. I got the pwk 36 carb but I didnt get any other jets for it. I dont know what is even in it. I looked for the Amsoil racing oil but didnt see any there. I will have to get that somewere else i guess. Can i just plug in the carb and see what happens? I dont get why you have to change jets so much? so in the morning up north is 70 degrees so you put in a 175 and when it gets hot in the day you change the jets to a 190? That seems like a big pain in the ****. Isnt there a happy go medium? How do you know what to use for your jets? I cant drive it here in the city so how should I set it up? Can you just unhook the fuel line from the carb and drain all the gas out that way?
