Looking for a tire with stock tire ride and manners with the extra pull of a mud tire. Have to make a decision on new tires and like the Titan 589 vs Vampires. Advantages are lighter weight, can use stock rims. Can anyone give me any negatives on the 589's? Mainly ride for pleasure with a little mud kicked in. Some work on the farm hauling and pulling. Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out the tires section of the forum. There is a good article on tires, the 589 were a surprise shoot out winner. You might have to scan back a few weeks to find it.

I am considering 589's for my Rancher.

I am running 26x9-12 and 26x12-12 on my stock Rubicon wheels. They did not affect acceleration or performance, per se. But, they are very good in the mud and ride very good on hardpack. I would most definitely buy them again. The Vamps will be much heavier and will ride much rougher. BTW-the sizes mentioned above will not stick out of the fender coverage and you can ride in the mud and stay relatively dry.

The article from ATV Action is down under Tires and Drivetrain. It is interesting as they said the 25-inch Titan was surprising them as it was against other tires that were 27-inchers.

This question is somewhat ignorant, but when you guys mention hard pack you mean asphalt??

Hard, dry dirt or dirt roads (asphalt or concrete, also, I guess).

TXDoc, where did you purchase your 589's? Highlifter? RockymountainATV?

TxDoc2, your Rubicon is awesome. By far, it is the best looking ATV I have seen. I hope you lock it up at night. Here in Georgia, you would have to. I noticed you have both Titan's and Hilifter Mud tires on your website pictures. Is the lift on the Rubi with the Titans or is it just with the HL Muds? BTW, what kind of digital camera are you using for posting?

I just saw a mud tire shootout. I think it was in Dirtwheels. The Vampires finished 3rd. They rated the Oulaws by Highlifter 1st and the Mud Machine 2nd.
