powroll makes a sweet kit from what i here. cam exhaust piston and everything to pretty much make that baby fast well for a 250ex shaft drive. I have done a few mods to my sons 250ex it is pretty good for a kid. How did you blow that thing up my kid shifts that thing at rev limiter all the time and never lets off the gas when he shifts. that baby stills runs great. if you do get the powroll kit let me know how it runs im waiting to see what other stuff i can do to the little 250ex.

I didn't think you could blow a 250? I had an 87 250x that would not blow if you tried.(I tried)
It sounds like water is in the carb to me. Drain the carb bowl and add alcohol to the gas. Gas and water DO NOT MIX so it is hard as he77 to get water out of a carb.
I had a briggs engine that this happened too. I thought it was shot but it was just a little water.
I may be wrong. Were you running lean? That will fry the engine. Cheap oil?

I picked the 250ex from the guy down the street, gave him 500 bucks for it
, his nephew rolled it and bent the handlebars, the start button wasnt working very good (the rollover), we were able to start it , he ran down the street and the back tire locked up, so he sold it to me, I took it down to a local shop where they took off the front cover&casing, the clutch is exposed, if you turn it over by hand at a certain point you can feel the rod tapping around, I think? he told me since we are going this far, the teardown, mind as well go through everything, which is fine, but he was quoeting me 450 for parts, ouch, I know they sell complete kits out there somewhere, Ill check out that powroll kit, thx Frogg

hmm
I can't see how a rollover would break the rod unless the motor was crushed. The worst that could happen would be a flooded engine maybe?
Are you sure you here the rod tapping? Its more likely to be the pushrods. They make a tapping sound.
I wouldn't give up on that engine until I saw a broken rod in my hand . If the rod has broken it will usually bust the block. Your probably just hearing the normal engine clicks.
