Default HMF QS1 vs. HMF Utlilty exhaust...

Does anyone have the HMF QS1 Ultra-Quiet Utility Exhaust. I am looking to put a pipe on my 05 Rubicon and I am starting my research. I have heard good things about the regular HMF utility pipe but I have not heard much about the QS1. I would like to know if the power gain on the QS1 is as great as there regular utility pipe. There has to be more packing/restriction in the QS1 to make it so quiet which would suggest that the power gain would be less than a louder/less restricted pipe. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the QS1 and absolutely love it. It has the same power as my old Supertrapp IDS2 but without the noise. It does not flow as well as the Utility. The Utility is extremely loud and even with the quiet core is still too loud for me. The QS1 has a nice aluminum finish. It sounds nice to you as your riding but riders behind you, etc. don't notice it. HMF has great tech support. While the QS1 does not "require" re-jetting, when combined with re-jetting and filter the greatest power increase will be obtained.

Cirviver,

I have been researching the same thing lately. I know the utility will get more power out of the quad compared to the Ecosystem. I called HMF last week and the needed only to say a few words to help me make my decision. The Utility with the quiet core is 98db. The Ecosystem is 94db. Stock is 89-90db. I want a little more power but I also want to keep my neighbors complaining down, so I am going with the Eco. I am going to order a jet kit at the same time. I hope it is all worth it.
Hope that helps a little.

Have you guys looked into the FMF Powerline? No packing to wear out or replace, supposedly very quiet as well.

Yoda,

The db levels are just what I was looking for. I am in the same boat as you, I want more power but don't want to wake the dead in the process. Thanks for the info!

RedGoblin,

I will check out the FMF as well. Thanks!

I think you guys will like the Eco. It's one of the most overlooked but great pipes on the marker.

I really like my Utility series, and dont think the pipe is to loud. The only complaint I have had is from a buddy, and he was complaining that he couldn't hear his quad to shift it during a short drag. I called bs on him and that he shouldn't rely on hearing his motor rev to shift, should be pretty natural IMO. Anyway, I bought the quiet core to go with it, but never use it because it sounds so close to stock. I really enjoy the power gains I received from the combo of the jet/filter/ and pipe. The low end pull was effected the most, then mid, but hardly any top. Like I said I really like the sound of the Utility, and was extremely satisfied with HMF.
