Default 400EX rear axle bearings

My friend has an '01 400EX and he wants to change his rear axle bearings out but he can't get his axle to come off. He's not sure which way to slide it or how to get the nut all the way out if he even needs to. If you guys know, please feed back with detailed instructions because he needs to get it going. Thanks for the help guys.

do a search. It has been posted many times.

Axle comes out to the left side of the quad. There is a c-clip underneath the large bellshaped nut. You have to loosen the lock nut and the bell nut far enough to get to this c-clip.

Don't remove the brake setup until you get this far. It helps to have someone else step on the brake petal while loosening these nuts.

Good Luck.
