I am, looking to buy a new atv, my first in fact. I have grown up with my friends riding Honda's, so it was natural for me to think of buying one. I want the Rubecon, so I called a Honda dealer, a friend of mines contact, and discussed the quad. He told me that he has had three come back to his shop with blown motors. The pistons through the heads(or something of that nature) since he started selling them. Now, he is a die-hard Honda rider, but he himself was unsure about this model now because of his customers' experiences.

Has anyone heard of this problem? Is it likely that he simply had three guys who rag their machines to no end?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. My only other one I am considering is the Yamaha Grizzly 600. Both were nice rides, but there is something about that Honda that I REALLY liked.

Thanks..

Hope to be riding soon!!!!!

Sounds terrible. I would avoid it at all costs.

You may also look into the Polaris V-twin 700cc, it is bigger than the Yamaha.

Not quite sure of the odd responses you have gotten here.... Anyway, I have not heard of that problem and have not experienced it myself.

HI,

Kinda odd that 3 Rubicons from the same Dealer that all had the same problem. Sounds like the dealer is settin these machines up wrong?? I dont know just an idea I am new too this sport and the only prob I had so far was my mistake. (I was cleaning the radiator cover and not the radiator itself so my rubicon overheated) This was after a month of ridding through mud and grass that was caked on the radiator. After reading the manual I discovered how too take the cover off and properly clean it. (said in the manual u should let it get no more then 20% covered mine was 100%covered. After cleaning it I have not had the prob yet. I would Recomend this machine 100% too anyone that did their homework and found that the Rubicon fit there needs as it did mine.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was the dealers fault not setting them up right. This is the first I've heard of this problem. If you do decide to buy a Rubi, buy it from a different dealer, just to be on the safe side.
