I was looking for a plastic skid plate for may rancher. I got stuck in the mud yesterday. The frame sat down on the mud and got caught. The rock protection is fine i just need a smooth belly so I don't get stuck.
I had to dig the frame out by hand before I could move again. THe clay just worked itself up into the fram and grabbed it.
Anyway I want a cheap light weight skidplate ad am not sure where to get one. I can make one if I can get the raw material so if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks ahead of time.

I run Maier plastic plates on my Ranchers, Recon, and 250EX.
They can really take a beating and they are LIGHT! Plastic will slide over a rock, where aluninum will gaul, and tend to stick. They act like a huge ski in the snow, and the bike just sails along on top (at least until the back end gets burried).
You can order direct from Maier. http://www.maier-mfg.com/
