Default New Honda Owner!

Hello, I am a new Honda owner. I just bought the Rincon today. If anyone has any heads up or help info. please let me know. I just rode it up and down the street and probably won't get to actually trail ride it until this Sunday. So if anyone has any general info. please let me know. How hard is it to change the oil? Is it messy? Anything I should be careful of? Look for? Anything that seems unusual that's not? Thanks for your help.

You probabely already know this, but it never hurts to be reminded. The break in period is very important, dont go above half throttle, and don't bog the motor, for at least 50 or more hours of riding. And have it serviced more often than you normaly would during the break in period.

Thanks for the advice but when I got my DS I rode the crap out of it, no problems. I'm from the "new school" thought of break in's.......Ride it like you stole it. First ten miles is the most important. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.html

I agree! Ride it like you stole it. A buddy of mine and I both got 05 Rubicons. He broke his in easy and I broke mine in hard. After 100 miles, mine will run 3 mph faster and mine starts MUCH easier than his. It may be a coincidence but I am with you on the "new school" break in's.

Find a long, nasty, technical downhill that requires a slow speed descent, and give us your opinions about the machines lack of engine-braking.

Oh how right you are. Less than 50 miles and the whole right-front and headlight assembly was demolished from my momentary lack of awareness of what exactly I was attempting on an IRS machine.

Well since I never have encountered the above scenario and most of my riding has been on a DS650 which is a 5 speed with NO engine brake, I don't see it being a problem.

I do know with that plush suspension I won't be NEARLY as tired now. It does have both front and rear brakes though so even if I HAD to cascade down a steep hill I think I'd be just fine. Took my DS down a nearly vertical hill with no problems, any engine braking would probably help.
