Default FOREMAN 400 FRONT END NOISE

Will this eventually happen to the new machines with traxlock? My 450es started doin that just before I traded it. I thought something major was going in the front end so I was fairly keen on trading it. The noise was not too loud though, it almost felt like soemthing in the steering was slipping and it was sort of a clicking noise when you would turn the wheels!

Default FOREMAN 400 FRONT END NOISE

I picked up a bottle of modifier from my brother today,he has his own machanic shop, and went ahead did as ATVtech suggested.I was short of amazed.I rode it for a mile or 2 down the road to mix the oil and modifier up good and made a few sharp left's and right's with it.When I got home the problem was solved. No noise what so ever. You the man ATVtech. So far problem solved and I am one happy camper.
Thanx a million. I sure am proud I found this forum.Keep up the good info folks.

This problem only applies to machines with old style limited slip differentials. These diffs have clutch plates in them that cause the noise when they stick. These models are TRX350 Foreman (all years), TRX300FW (all years), TRX400 Foreman (all years), TRX450 Foreman (1998-2001).

2002 and up Foreman 450's, all year Ranchers and all year Rubicons have the torque sensing front differential that contain no clutch plates.

The noise on your old 2001 450 was the result of the clutch plates sticking. A few ounces of friction modifier and your old Foreman would have been good for another 15 years...

Default Similar problem on 2004 TRX 450

I changed the front Diff oil with Honda front diff oil as I have since I bought it new. Never had any problems before. Afterwards I got a sharp squealing noise in the front. I changed front wheel bearings and brakes. It still does it from time to time. It squeals when going straight or turning right. When turning left it stops. Braking doesn’t change anything. I thought I had found something until you said it didn’t apply to my model (2004 450) any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
