Default No spark???

This morning, I was letting my 2000 400ex idle to warm it up and all of a sudden it just died. I tried to start it back, but nothing. I took the spark plug wire off and stuck a plug in it and grounded it and turned it over, but no spark. I checked all of my connections and grounds, they seem fine. What could be the problem? I know I'm getting fuel. I have a book on it, but it's showing you need a special part (some kind of little white box with wires) to check the ignition system voltage. Anything would be greatly appreciated!!!

Default No spark???

Well, a friend of mine let me try out a cdi off his 400ex and it didn't work. I read macgiver's post about this. It seems I have a long road of testing to do.

Default No spark???

I took the coil off and checked for continuity between the black/yellow wire and the spark plug wire. At first it showed continuity. I checked it a couple more times and it was still ok. I checked it one more time and it showed nothing. I had the meter on 200 ohms. I switched the meter untill it started picking up again and then it showed 180,000 ohms. I moved the wire around trying to get it to pick up better, but nothing. Could this be the problem???

Doesn't that only effect the cranking of the engine? It cranks fine, just no fire. Anyway, I connected the coil to a battery to see if it would fire a plug and it fired it just fine. So, I guess it's working. This is driving me crazy!!!
