450r carb on 400ex?
Ya I heard somewhere about some guys putin a stock 450r carb on a 400ex. I was wondering if you guys thought this would be a good power gain? I mean it seems to me that it shouldnt be any worse than the stock 400ex carb...but im just curious if it will really make that much more power. I race mx right now with a 400ex with a 416 kit with 450r intake valves after market air box and filter and a pro circuit pipe and it runs pretty sharp, so i didnt know if u guys thought that this would be a good investment...i just dont want to spend the money on the edelbrock. thanks

I was very please with the gain I got from the 450R carb on my 416. The dyno showed similar gains(about 3hp) between the 450R carb and FCR carb on the 416, although the FCR is supposed to rev quicker. Nice thing is you can pick up the 450R carbs new for $165 or used in the $100 range.
