Then ask what our opinions are, don't start off by saying it is "horrible" when you have no clue.

Sorry to get off the subject but i think the kick start on the 450 is horrible. I've read in magazines and many people hope they will make electric start this year they still havent released the '06. The electric start on the YFZ gives yamaha an advantage I'm just telling you what the magazine said.
Not that I am bashing on you, but where do say "I was just wondering what ur guys' opinions were about the kick start"?

I never saw what was so bad about kick start. I like them better cause you dont have to worry about the battery quiting on you and it keeps the atv lighter. I drive my 450r, 250r and 250x in the winter and never had trouble starting them.

Thanks guy for all the replies. I have never owned a kickstart bike before and the cold weather was my only concern.

i have no experience with the 450r but i have ridden an old honda ute with a forward kick backup start. in some ways its nice but my foot kept wanting to slip off the kicker thing and i was wearinf work boots with a rut under the arch

the 450r kicks easy but a e-start is nice to have for xc racing or when you stall it on a hill climb

You have to think it is a race machine and how many racing machines have you seen with e start, it is lighter (no batery, no e moter, and no extra gears) so that means more speed and more wins.
