If anyone plans on riding in the deep woods, they better carry more than the little tool kit that comes equipped with their ATV,and I dont give a darn what brand ATV you own either. When my club rides together,we have all kinds of tools amongst us in our cargo boxes..We allways expect the un-expected and we are ready for it IF it happens, regardless of brand name.

Not to carry any tools with you in the deep woods is a recipe for disaster and is also FOOLISH,even if you think your ATV is reliable.

MOTO,
I have to agree with you.One of these days,im going to STOP buying new ATVs and keep them for longer than 1-2 yrs.MAN,this practice is getting real EXPENSIVE,especially when you outfit the ATV with a bunch of aftermarket goodies everytime you buy a new one..BUT,I dont drink, dont do drugs,or smoke ect ect ect.......And ATVing means EVERYTHING to me..I beleive its a real reflection of the passion I posses for the sport and the desire to have one of the most capable ATVs on the terrain when im riding..

That is another thing that stinks about buying new all the time, you never get your money out of the aftermarket parts you have in them. But to some of us it is our addiction, like you basically said, so I guess it is ok if we throw our money away on something!

I swear,the Bomb 800 is my last one-----------I think

I doubt that! lol Just like I said my CR250 was the last dirtbike I needed, and Im already eyeballing some of the 4-stroke bikes.

Oh my heavens, I'm going to back out now so the Honda love in can get going . Come on boys if you don't own a Honda please leave these guys alone. You guys really do want to be alone don't you.maybe get in a circle. I will tell you this I travel in a large group of bikes and there are bikes of every kind. Honda has not proven anything to the rest of us about this so called legend of reliability. I just towed a 2004 Foreman home ( electrical problems). I watched a 650 Kawi tow two 650 Honda's through a mud hole both were the only two not to make it. Imagine that a Kawasaki towing to new Honda's.

What was the electrical problem on the Foreman?

Why were the two Honda 650's towed through the mud?

You need to be more clear when making claims such as these...

These aren't claims these are facts, yes the foreman quit on the trail with an electrical problem, it kept blowing fuses no lights no electric start and hten no go. The 650 2005 honda's were towed through Mud and also iout of a river that the Polaris & Kawasaki both went through. last year we towed home a 2001 350 es Honda with a blown engine, As I said these are not claims these were witnessed by many. But What I'm trying to say is they all break down To say in this day and age that Honda is the most reliable doesn't stand up,not up here anyway

As I have said before, I think all of the big name brand quads are reliable these days and none really has a distinct advantage. BUT I will say that in my experiences Honda's are still probably the most reliable. Im not even talking about the engine staying running, I mean clear down to little things that add up like fasteners, bearings and what not. Between my riding crew and myself we all own a variety of quads including sport and utility of all od the big 4 Jap brands, and every bike that is not "red" requires more bearing changes, frequent check on loose fasteners, brakes, clutches, etc.

Take my 01 400ex, vs. my friends 03 Z400. Everyone knows both of these quads are reliable as any quad out there, both quads have many, many hours on them and they both run fine. BUT, the zuki has had to have more bearing, clutch, fastener replacements than the honda. And it's not just these two bikes, I am just using these as an example and have many more. Including a 01' Recon that is used for Farm use and has been beaten more than any quad I have think of, not to mention the weight that has been on the thing that exceeds the rating of a Big Bore Ute. This farmer also has a 01' bear tracker that hasn't had nearly the abuse and this thing is absolute junk. I can keep going.

Im sorry man, Ive been around these for almost 17 years, and I say even with todays quads, honda's are still built stronger than any other brand when you look at ALL the details. You want to argue performance, go ahead, you probably will have a legitiment argument with that, but not reliability.

Hmmm...

I worked on a Foreman 450 a few weeks ago that was also blowing fuses. The owner was really mad and questioning his Honda purchase decision. Turns out the person who installed the hand warmers pinched the power wire between the plastic and the frame. While riding over rough terrain, the open wire would touch the frame and blow the fuse.

The Rincon 650 is a terrible mudder, period. I own one, so I should know. With no low gear, no diff lock, and low ground clearance, it's no surprise that it would have difficulty going through mud that other bikes walked right through. Not sure about the Rincons being pulled out of the river though. Operator error I would say. In both cases, reliability or lack thereof, is not relevant. What exactly broke down on the Rincons?

A few months ago, I worked on a Rancher with a blown engine. The owner was absolutely furious. After tearing down the engine and looking everything over, I found the problem(s). The oil had broken down into a thick black sludge from lack of maintenance. Also, the air filter had come off its mouting flange, letting all the dust and crud fall directly into the cylinder.

You see, there are two sides to every story and I would be curious to know why the Hondas in your riding group failed.

I work at a multi brand dealership and can personally vouch for the fact that Honda is still the most durable and reliable ATV on the market. Do they break down? Yep. I can tell you some great Honda breakdown strories. Overall though, they have the least amount of breakdowns.

I respect your opinion however. You seem intelligent and very well spoken.
