Ok, I'll try and find some dyno's to link after my lunch, but I found a few and a 03' stock 450 is peaking at about 47-48 hp (current bikes are a little more powerful), and a stock late 90's 500 is putting out around 53-54. A couple more HP gap than I thought, but still not THAT much difference. I'll try and link some in a couple hours.

a Brand X dyno in Houston could read quite differently than that same Brand X dyno in Washington State... Just be careful.

I still have every Dirtbike and dirt rider magazing stored in rubbermaid contaioners from 1988- today! This article I am looking at has the 1992 CR500R at 61HP stock
and I used to own a CR500R with reeds, re-jetted and pipe!
The only 4 stroke I have ridden that is even close, Even REMOTELY close is a Yamaha R1

Fast440, one word. HOT.
The sand was awesome, very smooth. My brother and I (both KX500's, we left the quads at home) were the ONLY people there.
In all of glamis, there we no other campers on tuesday night. A few people that run the glamis store were there, but no other campers,
no other riders. We had glamis all to ourselves. It was... wierd.
The night was warm, the day was hot. There was NO breeze of any kind most of the day before we left. This made sitting still very hot.
Once moving, it was nice. But sitting still, it was HOT.
