yea i had a kick start model on order at one dealer ship and they told me i wouldnt see it until February and said they would have the estart model in a week or to. So this morning i went to the dealer in my town to get some oil for my CRF450 and i walked in there she sat. She is beutifull in that red and black. so i sat on it and it is totaly diff from my YFZ i previosly onwned. but i liked it. So i put the paper work in and i left for an hour came back and they had it serviced to go. i rode it a have hour around the area and i liked it it was more comftorble and the gearing is easy to go through the woods with. i then took to the local mx track were i live because there practice every Tuesday night from 4 to 8. i rode about three hours there and had a blast. i could beet all my friend out of the gate and every lap of the track start to finish. they had YFZs, 05 450rs, and a couple of raptors. it was a close hole shot with the YFZ that i built. neck and neck till i hit third gear then i pulled a way a little an then took the first corner. over all awsome machine. ask any questions about it if you have any. thanks.

RoostinRaptor, did you have any experience on the '04-'05 450R's? I was wondering how the new transmission ratios compared to the old model. Is first gear a lot lower than in previous years? With a longer swingarm and new steering geometry, it should corner better and have a heavier front end in '06. What I would be most curious on is how the '06 450R compares to the '06 YFZ. Both have received updates for '06. rooster

first gear is the way that the 04 an 05 should of been. it is evenly spave an is very easy to go through the tight woods and not have to fether the cluch. the from end stays down unless you are eather hole shotting realy it will come up in first or second but can keep it down prety good but if you try to wheely she will like a champ. i have to say i love it so far.

Sounds like Big Red has got a very nice machine to compete in the high-performance wars this time around. Will either the Yamaha or Honda stick with the new LT-R450 though? I would love to see Honda regain the crown, especially over a machine with supposed professional-grade stock suspension and EFI. Either way, congrats on you new 450R. Sounds unusual to hear about a Yamaha owner selling their YFZ for an R
