I bought a 2005 Rancher 4x4 manual tranny back at the 1st of August. I love it! I had a 95 Kodiak before this one and I have been riding my g/f's 2004 Yamaha Bruin around also. The Bruin is a good machine, justs seems a little tippsy at high speeds. The auto tranny is cool but I prefer to shift myself so I opted for the manual instead of the ES on the Rancher. I have put maybe 100 miles on my Rancher and I love the thing. It has plenty of power for me plus my oldest son, who is 5'10" and weighs 230 pounds told me he would rather drive my Rancher than the Bruin. The Rancher pulls him with his younger brother on back....who weighs 70 pounds with no problem.
I'm sure it will pull you around too.

Thats a big 10-4 on the foot shifter on a new rancher!! I got mine a few weeks ago and just love it.
I find myself using it more than my 500H.O. I thinks the sportsman is headed for the chopping block
soon!!

thanks i will look in to it. my only concern is eating dust with my friends i mean a 600 twin to a rancher. idk maybe. i just like being able to get into tight places. and still have the torque. i looked at the bigger hondas i did not like them. ill be making money with the shape my sportsman is in almost new. how fast will the rancher go in corn fields and dirt roads it is badley washed out but i still go top speed so i need a good handling atv also. wit the polaris i got say going 60was great. but going into those ruts 60 was bad. i did it and i was like never on the ground will the rancher handle better at its top speed? thanks o and will it fish tale?

The Rancher will ride a heck of alot rougher than the sportsman. It will top out at about 52 stock. No it will not fishtale very easily as it is full time 4wd unless you install the 424 unlocker. It does have torque man I think that thing will pull a house off it's foundation, it kills my quad in that area. In my area I could get out the door for about $4200 no taxes and no warranty. I would have probably opted for it instead of the AT if I would have known how little low end mine had compared to the 350.
