Rancher or 300ex????
#1
I'm thinking about buying one of these quads but I don't know which one to get. I do most of my riding on a river where there is all types of terrain. (water, mud, sand, tight trails, etc.) I won't do any work with the quad, it's just for riding around with friends. I have only owned polaris quads so I'm not used to the drum brakes that come on the Rancher. How well do these hold up in water?. I would appreciate any help on the subject.

I have a friend who recently rode my 400ex, so now he is thinking about buying a 300ex, or a Rancher also. My suggestion is to ride both, and see which one suits your needs more. The drum brakes hold up pretty well in water (At least on my Recon) as they are sealed. The Rancher is better for laid-back slower trail ridding, and mudding. The 300ex is better for aggressive riding, and jumps. But both can do either well... It all comes down to what type of riding you will do the most.

my advise would be to get the 300ex it is good in most terain i took min everywhere but if you dont like going fast get the recon and if you like more comfort get the recon i would say get the 300ex you'll enjoy yourself

are you considering the 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive rancher? i ride in a creek most of the time and it has some of the same conditions you mentioned. the 300ex doesnt seem to keep the water off of you very well, at least from what ive seen( I could be wrong). 250rampage is right on with which quad does what well. i would reccomend the rancher.
