It might have been better to ask this question BEFORE you made your purchase!
There is a frequent preceptiont that the AT is low on bottom end power, and that the less efficient automatic transmission eats up the extra power that the bigger 400 powerplant provides (compared to the Rancher 350).

that's why honda opt'ed for the 400 in the AT, knowing that it would eat some of the power. The 350 would be much underpowered if they had used it, so they put hte 400 in to compensate slightly.
