Default 01 Rubicon valve clatter

My 01 Rubicon has a slight valve clatter cold and hot. It is just enough that you would think it is time to check the adjustment. I did that today and have a few questions. I do not have a repair manual and the owners manual does not state if the clearance is checked cold or hot. I checked it cold and could not get a .006 feeler guage under either one. Spec is .006 int and .009 exhaust. Is there something I don't know? clearance usually gets tighter hot. Is ther an alternate spec most others use? Noise is not bad just thought I should check it. Only has 350 miles and has never been set before. Thank you. I have another question that I am going to post spearately about the newer Rubicon bodies fiting the older style Rubicons.

had the same concern on my forman, tried everything, then noticed in my repair manual it gave the spec for the valve spring tension, had them checked and they were weaker than the spec chagne them, noise gone. If you have yours apart it would would be worth checking your valves for sticking and your valve spring. Nothing to lose.

sorry, not the valve spring tension but the valve spring height minimum.
