all i bought was the piston and sleave from T.C. Racing, i dont like them much so i bought the rest of my stuff from web cam. But to get to 330 cc from 282cc(stock) all you really need is 300 dollars. the total amount in my engine is well over 1000 dollars so i guess you are right

For $300 bucks, you can make your engine 330cc in displacement. But for a "true" 330 engine, about $1000 dollars is needed for parts.

In my personal opinion, TC is the best 4-stroke engine builder.

Power is nothing without control. What kind of shocks are you guys running? I have AXIS all the way around.

Ok, one guy says 400, one says 1000, which is it?

I really want to make a 300ex, or 250x outrun a friends stock 400ex, but I dont wanna pour a grand into my motor.
I know that a WB cam is a little over 100, valve springs are like 100, so thats 200, a pipe, 250, so 450..is this all besides the piston and sleeve? If so, thats like 750 or so, which I guess is close to a grand.
How much will just the 330 bump up power without the cam and stuff?

You can buy a 330 kit for $300 bucks. The kit includes a 330cc piston, new sleeve, and all of the gaskets, rings and such for installation. Then the top end of the motor needs too be bored out too press in the new sleeve.
Your engine will then be a 330. But it doesen't do much good too have a 330 if all of the rest of the engine is stock(pipe, cam, carb, etc).

For a "true" 330 racing engine. It will cost you a thousand bucks for parts. Besides the 330 kit, you will need a cam and valve springs, complete exhaust system, carb, CDI, and some airbox mods. Parts totaling a grand.

A "true" 330 engine WILL spank a piped 400EX if both riders are equal.

Note: A 330 kit has much more work involved with up-keep. The valves need adjustment more often, frequent oil changes and top end rebuilds.
Bumping a motor up from 17HP to something in the low 30's wears other parts out faster as well. Chains, sprockets, clutches, tires, everything wears faster.

It's your call too see if it's worth it too you too spend the extra time and money with upkeep.

yea it does take over a 1000 dollars, since i had everything Cstark listed, plus some, months before. all i needed was 400 dollars to complete mine. I went with a big grind cam in mine though, with wich i had to get shorter valve guides, titanium valves, and extensive head mods. Now i really have to watch my valves and adjust them very frequently. I dont now if you will have to get a stonger cam chain, but i did, and its little things like that, that keep raising the price.

What gearing do you run with the 330?

I am thinking of trying 14/38 too start.

i run stock gearing now, but i tried 14/38. I lost to much low end with the 14 tooth, then i went to a 12 tooth, you get a ton of low end with the 12 but i topped out at 45 mph. So now i keep the stock gears in, they work the best for me.

I have 12, 13, and 14 tooth front sprockets. I ran all three sprockets before on my other built engine, and they all worked great. But if you say that 13 is best. I will probaly start there and compare.

did you send your whole engine to TC Racing or just the top end, and did they tell you how long it would be for them to finish it.
Have you ever tried Amp Link, i was wondering how that might work, i dont know anything about it. I have heard good and bad about it.
