I have cut springs and removed one on my 250R, but to lessen the throttle pull on a 400EX, the spring in the carb is very difficult to remove. I have already removed the circle spring in the thumb throttle, but still needs improvement. I want it as smooth and effortless as my R. Cable and casing is in good shape.

Has anyone changed springs yet?
Nick

WHy would you change the throttle springs in the throttle itself? Should i do it? What difference does it make?

It will make a very easy an effortless thumb throttle, which over a 2hr 30minutes race makes a huge difference.

Is it easy to change the one in the thumb throttle? Does it hurt anything? How do you do it?

Hey Brad;
the spring in the thumb throttle itself, just get rid of it, the bottom springs in the carb are stiff and have no problem pushing the thumb throttle back. It will take you about 2 minutes. Just take the cover off and unscrew the nut and pull it out of there. When you put it back together, lubricate everything real good.

P.S. I am still looking for suggestions on the carb springs. I don't want to cut them, because you would have to rebend them, and a big mess.
