Ok, not to be rude in any way................But, what was the battery going to do to the 4WD? Is it a 350 Rancher, or a 400AT?

I am imagining this is an AT, and the electronic TraxLok that is suposed to engages the front 4wd didn't???

I have heard that if you turn the ignition off, it disengages the 4wd so you have to reengage it, which if it is true, I don't think most folks know that (???). But, that doesn't sound like your particular problem.
