Default Just bought a 400EX

Yep, after shopping around I finally bought an ATV. I really got the fever for one after we put a Dinli 90cc Diamondback on layaway for Christmas for our kids. My background is in motocross and sportbikes. I've ridden a good many ATV's, but have never owned one. I found a 2000 Honda 400EX that was in great shape, at least compared to the other sport quads I've looked at. It is red, with Skin Industries graphics and seat cover, Pro Circuit exhaust, ITP wheels and Holeshots and Renthal bars. It has a few scratches on the plastic, but that's it. I look forward to being a member of this board. I've already picked up a lot of knowledge by lurking. Some of the Yamaha guys were even unbiased enough to steer me away from a very rough 01 Raptor.

Ah, the almost bullet proof 400EX. Excellent first choice, might I suggest a nice pipe, air filter and rejetting to go with that sir? Coming off MX the acceleration will be somewhat slower than your used to, but the handling is stable and solid. Maintenance is adjusting valves, usually once a year, it takes about an hour, oil and air filters.

Congrats! yep the 400ex is just about as solid as you can get. I've had the 440 kit in mine for 4 years and still not a problem yet even with a couple rolls. Have fun and welcome to the forums

Thanks guys! What is involved in adjusting the valves? What do you think a dealer should charge for this?

More than your going to want to pay. Its really and easy job. The hardest part is taking the plastic off. Theres a few step by step guides floating around on the web, just google it.
