Anyhone ever hopped up a 300 EX?
Yesterday I was riding in the cane fields, and I ran accross a lil guy that had a 300 ex setup MX style, and we raced from a dry stop, and he smoked the hell out of my stock bike. I mean 1/8 of a mile and he was 5 or 6 cars ahead of me. He got that bike maxed out, Port & Polished, 400.00 pipe.

My sons 300 has a 12:1 piston, white bro's cam, rejetted and air box mods, and it runs good. Its not scary, but very smooth with the power. I have a completely stock 400ex, and the next chance we get we'll line'em up. (along with my other sons blaster)
From what I have been told, the big bore/stroked 300's don't stay together to good. Seemed as though, when you get above the 330cc point, things really get pushed to their limit. FST had mentioned before that changing the valves to some bigger ones then getting a bigger cam will really wake up a 300. Mickey had said thats where the power could really me made, with bigger valves. If you go with a high compression or big bore kit, watch the rod. Most rods don't like the added stress and it seems thats what tends to break.

"Update" Saturday I let my 2 sons drag race across one of our bean fields. ( it had already been combined) My youngest son (9 years old at about 90 lbs.) on his 2003 Blaster with a used and very load Pro-circuit pipe, rejetted, with 6 one inch holes in the air box lid, VS my oldest son (11 years old at about 115lbs) on his 300EX, 12:1 piston, white bros cam, new valve job, rejetted and 6 one inch holes in the airbox lid, and a pro-circuit t4 pipe. From a dead start, the blaster got the jump and stayed out in front. 3 races across the field (approx 1/4 mile) and the Blaster was out front every time, from start to finish. I was on my sportsman at the time so I didn't get a chance to try them on my 400ex. But I will admitt, I am a little afraid to try him. For a mostly stock blaster that thing seems to run really good!!
